The Spinward States came into existence after the Regency collapsed into multiple parts, nearly a century after the Regency was founded. The current situation is highly unstable, and still very much in flux. Many of the states are in a state of cold war, which continually threatens to turn very hot at any time.
The Spinward States maintain a diversity of viewpoints, desires, beliefs, and goals. It is not intended for any of the states to be white or black, but rather various shades of gray. Some states are more black or white than others, but each state has its redeeming points, and each state has its weaknesses and problems
